Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden is delighted to announce the return of the highly anticipated annual fundraising event Nature Hikeathon and Treasure Hunt to the Farm this year. Taking place on 2-3 December, 2023, this two-day annual fundraising event will showcase a diverse range of activities, including a charity walk, a captivating treasure hunt in lush green fields, and an immersive nature bazaar. Transforming the upper and lower farm area into a playground, participants will have the unique opportunity to reconnect with nature while embracing the breathtaking beauty of the autumn and winter landscape. Participants will delve into KFBG’s rich history, unravel ecological wonders and actively contribute to nature conservation.
Registration is now open, and we extend a heartfelt invitation to the public to join us in this meaningful endeavour. All proceeds from the event will directly support KFBG’s nature-based programmes for wildlife conservation, holistic education and sustainable living, in our mission towards harmonising our relationship with the environment.
Charity Walk Introduces Competitive Segment
The charity walk, scheduled for 2 December, offers two distinct routes, providing a fantastic opportunity to explore the diverse flora, fauna and natural landscapes of the northern slopes of Tai Mo Shan. The shorter 4-km leisure route, suitable for participants of all ages, follows ancient trails, while the 8-km classic route encompasses both the upper and lower mountain areas of the park. Participants on the classic route will conquer the exhilarating Ling Xiao Trail and ascend to peaks reaching over 600m, making it an ideal challenge for experienced hikers.
Both routes feature multiple checkpoints where participants can engage in nature-related tasks along the way. Upon collecting the designated stamps, participants can exchange them at the farm's kiosk for a complimentary beverage. This year, an additional competitive segment has been introduced. Participants can register for the 9am-start time in the 8-km category, allowing them to compete against other experienced hikers. The first five individuals to complete the race will receive prizes.
Challenging Adventures on the Treasure Hunt
On 3 December, KFBG is transformed into a playground for the exciting Treasure Hunt. Participants can register individually or as teams, embarking on a time-limited adventure through 25 captivating interactive checkpoints scattered across the mid and lower farm areas. Through these challenges, participants will experience the joy of the natural environment and gain inspiration, while learning about a harmonious coexistence with nature. The top 10 individuals (or teams) who complete the Treasure Hunt and achieve the highest score will receive fabulous prizes.
Engage at the Nature Bazaar
As an additional highlight, a limited-time Nature Bazaar will be hosted in Sunshine Hall and the lower farm area. With over 10 booths, the market offers a range of engaging activities and provides an opportunity to purchase agricultural products and environmentally friendly items, including plants and potted specimens nurtured by KFBG. Visitors are welcome to explore and appreciate nature.
KFBG has also prepared a series of guided tours and experiential activities, inviting participants of the Hikeathon and Treasure Hunt to stay and enjoy. Exciting activities include the highly popular tree-climbing adventure, animal encounter activities and a workshop where reclaimed wood from fallen trees is transformed into beautiful crafts. Please note that all activities have limited capacity, and we encourage early registration to secure a spot.
