Welcome to Tai Kwun Contemporary’s Family Day! In every family, daily life has its own rhythm. Parents and children often have very different perceptions of time and the speed at which it passes throughout the day, like traces of time leaving distinct marks and changes on parents and children, even when they are at home together.
This Family Day workshop is led by local artist MUDWORK. Parents and kids can discuss the concepts of time and space in the exhibition, rethink familiar ideas and established concepts, and make their own wooden clocks. The hands of these special clocks move forward to show the pace of each family member, gradually drawing two circles that record the trajectories of bodies in space. The hands made from organic materials also shorten, reflecting the way we change over time.
In the spring of 2025, Tai Kwun Contemporary will concurrently present Alicja Kwade: Pretopia, Hu Xiaoyuan: Veering and Maeve Brennan: Records, as part of the new Breakthrough exhibition series, which underlines emerging artistic positions through solo presentations, commissions, and innovative formats. These solo exhibitions by three female artists explore materials and storytelling through diverse approaches.
This artist-led programme welcomes any child aged five or older to participate, accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Workshops will be conducted in Cantonese.
