Radical Love: Connecting Heart, Hands and Head– A Three-day, Two-night Residential Retreat with Satish Kumar and Friends

About the event

KFBG is delighted to welcome Satish Kumar to its 70th anniversary celebrations. Satish Kumar has long been a friend of KFBG, inspiring the vision for a holistic education that connects heart, hands and heads to nurture compassion, action and wisdom in harmony.

Drawing on a lifetime as an Earth pilgrim, Satish advocates for a true education and meaningful life that comes from integrating these three dimensions. He teaches us that education and life must be rooted in radical love – an unconditional love for all living beings: people, animals, plants and the Earth itself. This love is not sentimental; it is active, courageous and transformative. It flows from the Heart as compassion, guides the Head as ethical wisdom and is expressed through the Hands as caring action. When feeling, thinking and doing are united by love, we become whole human beings who live creatively, responsibly and harmoniously with the world.

This retreat, led by Satish and in collaboration with friends, offers a unique opportunity to cultivate this love so it can be carried out into our lives. He is joined by Jhon Kwano, a tribal elder who shares indigenous wisdom and ways of living as respectful members of the wider Earth community.

Satish will share daily inspiration while a team of friends and facilitators will guide you through sharing sessions, cooking together, connecting with nature as well as nourishing the space for silence and meditation. Held within the serene surroundings of KFBG and Kadoorie Centre, this weekend offers space to connect with like-minded individuals and to deepen your relationship with yourself, with others, and with the living Earth.

KFBG 70th Anniversary – Awakening of Memory

The Radical Love Retreat with Satish Kumar and friends is part of the celebrations marking the special occasion of KFBG’s 70th anniversary. It integrates a wider series of activities curated to deepen our connection with the Earth.

Guided by the theme ‘awakening of memory’, these gatherings call us to remember our place within the greater community of beings. This anniversary is an invitation to return, to remember and to share the stories that bind us to this living landscape of KFBG’s mountain and the Earth itself. It is about how we live in the present and the future we shape together, deepening the dialogue between people and nature, and carrying this shared legacy forward in an ever-changing world.
