The Songkran Hong Kong aims to promote Thai culture in Hong Kong, allowing Thai people living in Hong Kong as well as people of various nationalities to experience and celebrate this Thai festival together. Since its launch in 2015, the Songkran Hong Kong has now entered its 11th year. In 2026, it will be held for the first time at PMQ, featuring a rich lineup of activities this year:
• Jatujak-style Market
Introducing dozens of well-known Thai specialty brands, providing Hong Kong people with a unique shopping experience while creating opportunities for Thai SMEs to expand into the Hong Kong market.
• Bangkok Street Food Zone
Gathering a wide variety of authentic Thai dishes, expected to become a major crowd magnet and directly drive immediate food and beverage consumption.
• Thai Trade Promotion
Supported by the Thai Trade Office in Hong Kong, the event will showcase the diversity of Thai products, helping to promote trade exchanges between the two places.
• Experiential Consumption
Activities such as Thai massage and Thai costume try-ons will satisfy consumers’ demand for in-depth cultural tourism experiences, extending dwell time and increasing spending opportunities.
The Songkran Festival originates from Thailand’s traditional New Year celebration, known as Songkran (สงกรานต์). It is one of the most important festivals in Thailand and marks the New Year according to the traditional Thai calendar. The festival has a long history in Thailand, dating back several centuries.
