M+ Sigg Collection: Inner Worlds
M+ Sigg Collection: Inner Worlds

The third exhibition of the M+ Sigg Collection builds on the groundbreaking previous editions, M+ Sigg Collection: From Revolution to Globalisation (2021–2023) and M+ Sigg Collection: Another Story (2023–2025). This new display provides a new and in-depth perspective on the collection and contemporary Chinese art by spotlighting key artists and trends.

This exhibition focuses on the evolution of media, language, and artistic approach in Chinese art from 1990 to 2012, the period in which Chinese art exploded onto the world stage. It positions the works within a global context and highlights their distinctive cultural characteristics and critical traditions. Each room features key artists and ideas, offering new views on Chinese art that move beyond established narratives. The presentation includes exceptional works by artists such as Chen Guangwu, Chu Yun, Duan Jianyu, Fang Lijun, Hu Xiaoyuan, Liang Yuanwei, Liu Wei, Liu Ye, Qiu Shihua, Shang Yang, Wang Jin, Yangjiang Group, and Zhao Bandi.
