Cloisonné Filigree is a traditional decorative art form that combines exquisite craftsmanship with vibrant enamel colors. Originating in the Yuan Dynasty and flourishing during the Ming and Qing Dynasties in China, this technique has been used to create breathtaking works of art, from vases and bowls to jewelry and ceremonial objects.
The process begins with fine metal wires, typically made of copper or gold, carefully bent and shaped into intricate patterns. These wires are affixed to a metal base, forming small compartments or “cloisons.” These compartments are then filled with colored enamel paste and fired at high temperatures, creating a smooth, glass-like surface with a brilliant, polished finish.
