The Lantern Carnival is themed on Joy to the City — Passing on the Joy, Welcoming the National Games. Drawing inspiration from the 15th National Games (NG), the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG), the Carnival showcases a set of five lantern displays incorporating both traditional and modern designs, with each lantern display symbolising one of the Five Elements in traditional Chinese philosophy: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth. The highlight of lantern displays reflects the spirit and glory of the 2025 National Games. A large-scale installation titled Brighten up the City with One Joyous Heart, is set up to showcase Students and Persons with Disabilities creativity in making lanterns. Other crowd-pleasers include a NG Interactive Zone, Mid-Autumn Market, fire dragon dance, traditional handicraft demonstrations, self-service lantern riddles and more, celebrating the National Day and Mid-autumn night together.
