Nursery rhymes are often the first songs a baby sings, filled with cherished memories and emotions shared by all. Inspired by nursery rhymes from around the world, Hong Kong artist Inkgo Lam transforms these childhood tunes into bamboo scroll paintings, using the age-old craft of interlacing delicate bamboo strips. These intricate bamboo strips become three-dimensional musical scores, connecting the rhythms and cultural soundscapes of diverse regions. From Hong Kong’s adaptation of London Bridge is Falling Down to Southeast Asia’s traditional rhymes with a tropical charm, India’s vibrant tunes and Central Asia’s soothing lullabies, each melody reflects the unique culture of its origin. Blending traditional handicraft and sound, the exhibition creates a symphony that transcends time and space, celebrating the diversity of our shared heritage. On weekends, hands-on workshops offer visitors a chance to explore the joy of bamboo weaving. A dance performance and a DJ remix session inspired by nursery rhymes will invite families to sway, laugh and share joyful moments together.
